Title: Urban energy management in Quito a case study
Authors: Sánchez, Paula
Description: This study aims to analyze an energy efficiency programo n the demand-side for the residential sector of Quito. The study considers the importance of energy efficiency programs and international experiences, and it covers technical aspects like the load characterization, tariff aspects, and identificaction of the energy efficiency measures, estimated savings for lighting, refrigeration and water heaters, and benefitis for residential consumers and Electric Power distributors of Quito.
The study includes a legal framework and strategic management tools that could be used during the development of energy efficiency program for the residential sector.
In addition, the study develops a sequence of environmental implications including CO2 emission reductions due to electricity generation and other concerns air pollutants emitted to the environment.

Title: Study on the electric power sector for a thermoelectric proyect plant in the republic of Ecuador
Authors: Moncayo, Juan Pablo
Abstract: Ecuador has experienced an energetic state of emergency for the past nine months.
New demands cannot be covered by Ecuador National Interconnected System at present, since Ecuador lacks of new infrastructure and energetic projects, although there are old and inefficient sub-transmission networks, with operating characteristics and conditions that make them unsuitable to be considered.

Title: Determining the viability of rice hush bioenergy in Ecuador
Authors: Ottoni, Steven Aurelio
Description: Ecuador’s national electricity plan faces major challenges in the upcoming years: current oil derivative subsidies are economically unsustainable; and an increasing reliace on hydroelectric power can cause nationwide energy shortages, as shown 2009. It is for these reasons that this study proposes the use of decentralized forms of energy, like bioenergy, to help meet the country’s future energy needs….
