| dc.description | In essence my final work explores the use of minimalism in instrumentation and performance to express a point or a feeling with the intensity of the singers I have learned from over the years. It motivates me to see singers, often African American, interpreting genres like blues, soul and RnB. They have their own way of using chest and mixed voice in these genres. The way they deliver their voices goes beyond technique, as it exists because of an internal fire that can be traced back in history to the birth of the blues, when African-Americans sang in the midst of slavery, exhaustion, and injustice. Singing is a body art on many levels and the energy that fills their bodies when they expand to sing is part of what is so fulfilling to me when listening to and interpreting these genres... | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | En esencia mi trabajo final explora el uso del minimalismo en la instrumentación e interpretación para expresar un punto o un sentimiento con la intensidad de los cantantes de los que he aprendido durante estos años. Me motiva ver a cantantes, comúnmente afroamericanos, interpretando géneros como el blues, el soul y el RnB. Tienen una manera muy propia de utilizar voz de pecho y mezclada en estos géneros. La forma en la que sacan la voz va más allá de la técnica, pues existe debido a un fuego interno que puede remontarse en la historia al nacimiento del blues, cuando los afroamericanos cantaban en medio de la esclavitud, el agotamiento y la injusticia. El canto es un arte corporal a muchos niveles y la energía que llena sus cuerpos cuando se expanden para cantar, es parte de lo que me llena al momento de escuchar e interpretar dichos géneros... | es_ES |
