| Resumen : | El arte participativo propone involucrar al espectador y construir su obra en relación a las experiencias que se generen alrededor de ella. En este trabajo de investigación se analizan obras de arte relacional realizadas entre 2001 y 2009 por Tania Bruguera y Santiago Sierra, en donde se hacen evidentes las relaciones de poder entre artista y espectador. Mi curiosidad surge desde la contradicción, aunque el arte relacional pretende balancear al arte y el sujeto, su relación con el espectador será siempre autoritaria e inequitativa. ¿En qué consiste esta lucha entre artista y audiencia? Propongo descomponer las políticas que rigen dentro de esta relación para así entender sus consecuencias. |
| Descripción : | Participatory art aims to involve the spectator with the artwork. The artist frames the narrative of the piece for the audience; the audience then reacts constructing a real-time experience which is the art piece. This research paper analyzes relational art pieces, created around 2001 and 2009 by Tania Bruguera and Santiago Sierra, which show the evident presence of a system of power relations between the artist and the spectator. My curiosity emerges from the contradiction regarding power in relational art. Even though the relational artist means to encourage the audience to participate in the artwork as an individual, this action fails to change the authoritarian nature of the power relations within the narrative and the distribution of the sensible. What is involved in this power struggle? In my argument, I will deconstruct the politics to better understand the relationships of power and their consequences. |
