monitoring the use of antimicrobial agents in food-producing animals. The emergence of
resistance in foodborne bacteria such as Escherichia coli and pathogenic Campylobacter
spp. is closely linked to the use of antibiotics in these animals. Infections caused by these
resistant bacteria have been well-documented in humans, and as antimicrobial resistance
