dc.descriptionIn cases of bimaxillary protrusion, extraction of four premolar and retraction of the anterior teeth is a widely used approach. However, there is controversy over whether the changes that occur in the anterior alveolar bone always follow the direction and quanty of tooth movement. Twenty patients with dentoalveolar bimaxillary protrusion treated by extracting the 4 first premolars were evaluated with lateral cephalograms made before and after of treatment. The measurements of cephalograms showed that maxillary and mandibular incisors were retracted primarily by controlled tipping of the teeth.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEn casos de pacientes con biprotrusión maxilar, la extracción de los cuatro premolares y la retracción del segmento anterior es una alternativa de tratamiento ampliamente utilizada en ortodoncia, sin embargo, existe controversia sobre los cambios que ocurren en el espesor del hueso alveolar con el movimiento de los dientes. Se evaluaron 20 pacientes con protrusión dentoalveolar bimaxilar tratados con la extracción de los cuatro primeros premolares utilizando cefalogramas laterales, los cuáles fueron hechos antes y después del tratamiento. Las medidas de los cefalogramas mostraron que los incisivos maxilares y mandibulares fueron retraídos principalmente por inclinación controlada.es_ES
