Resumen : Research concerning marijuana has been more focused on the health and social consequences of its use. This paper presents a political and public policy approach and focuses on its legalization. This study makes an analysis of public opinion regarding marijuana legalization in the United States. The proposed hypothesis claims that high education level would be correlated with positive attitudes towards legalization. A regression model has been taking data from the General Social Survey has been developed. The model is run four times using data from four different years to verify if the relation between the dependent and the independent variables remains constant over time. The results show that a higher level of education increases the probability of people being in favor of legalization. The regression model also shows that other variables besides education are statistically significant regarding legalization.
