dc.descriptionIn 2008, the Constitution of Ecuador, acknowledged nature as a subject of rights, for the first time in the history of the world. In a country as biodiverse as Ecuador, the inclusion of these rights should guarantee the protection of nature. Even though the actual Ecuadorian government was the mastermind of the Rights of Nature, they are not being respected. Large-scale mining is developing in this country, without even caring about the environment. Three trials have been held over the Rights of Nature since 2008. However, lawyers realize how difficult it is to develop them.es_ES
dc.description.abstractEn el 2008, la Constitución de Ecuador, reconoció por primera vez en la historia, a la naturaleza como sujeto de derechos. En un país tan biodiverso como el Ecuador, la inclusión de estos derechos debería asegurar la protección de la naturaleza. A pesar de que el gobierno ecuatoriano fue el impulsor de los derechos, en la práctica no se los respeta. La minería a gran escala está empezando a desarrollarse en el país, sin importar su impacto ambiental. Tres casos concretos se han resuelto por los derechos de la naturaleza; el llevar la teoría constitucional a la práctica, es un proceso difícil para los juristas.es_ES
